2023: Shun Campaign Of Calumny, Play Politics With Maturity, Olowu of Kuta Warns Politicians

The Olowu of Kuta Kingdom, Oba Hammed Adekunle Makama Oyelude (Tegbosun III), has urged politicians in the country to shun campaign of calumny and play politics with utmost fear of God, maturity and decorum ahead of the 2023 general election, AMILOADED reports.

Oba Oyelude said this advice while receiving the management of ‘Our Nigeria News Magazine’ at his palace on Friday.

The Olowu, who underscored the need for all Nigerians, irrespective of religious, political or ethnic affiliations to put national interest above self-interest, urged politicians in the country to engage in issue-based campaigns which would address the challenges of insecurity, economy, and unemployment among others facing the country.

“Politicians for the 2023 elections should shun malignant campaigns of name-calling, bad-mouthing and calumny against their opponents as the only way to ensure free, fair, credible and peaceful conduct of the polls which is around the corner,” he said.

The Olowu, who further appealed to politicians to shun every form of violence and negative comments to avoid heating the polity as the elections draw closer, said politicians should conduct their campaigns peacefully and orderly in order to avert any political mayhem before, during and after the polls.

The traditional ruler also called on Nigerians not to lose hope but to believe in the country for a greater and brighter future.

The Olowu who was elated receiving the management team of ‘OurNigeria News Magazine’ led by the Publisher, Abubakar Mohammed and the Editor in Chief, Auwal Umar, appreciated them for visiting him from far away Abuja.

The monarch who commended the team for using their pen to contribute their quota to the development of the country and not to create problem said their reports have always been factual and informative.

Responding, the publisher of the Magazine described Oba Oyelude as “a complete peace maker, philanthropist and God-fearing community leader”, saying other traditional rulers must emulate his good deed.

Other members of ‘OurNigeria News Magazine’ who visited the Olowu were the publisher, Dr Abubakar Mohammed, Editor in Chief, Auwal Umar, Editor, Omoba Jerry Adesuwe and Aisha Rabo who is the Business Development Manager while many traditional rulers were also with the Olowu to receive the August visitors.
