The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate of Osun East Senatorial District in the 2023 general election, Hon. Ajibola Famurewa, has called on the people of the state not to relent in seeking God for a peaceful election, AMILOADED reports.
Famurewa noted that to have a general election devoid of rancour, particularly in Osun State and Nigeria at large, citizens, irrespective of their religion, must put God first.
Speaking after the New Year prayer organised by the Ile-Ife chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Famurewa commended the body for their consistent prayers for the sustenance of peace in the state.
The former Osun SUBEB boss stressed that with the fast approaching general election, religion bodies must not relent in their prayers.
He further appealed to the people of Ife/Ijesa zone who were yet to collect their PVCs to do so now that INEC has decided to take the distribution to their doorsteps, noting that “it is the only power they have to choose their preferred candidates.”
Famurewa said, “Our people in Ife/Ijesa have tried the two parties and they have seen the one that has their love at heart.
“Our party, APC, is the only party that is sensitive about the needs of the masses, we are progressives and I promise to make life better for our people if elected.
“I am appealing that our people should vote for APC, both at state and national level. Our presidential candidate is capable, he will surely take this nation to a safe haven.”
On his part, the CAN chairman in Ile-Ife, Rev. Canon Sam Leye Onitiju, commended Famurewa, particularly for the financial donation he made towards the Ecumenical Centre’s project.
