AMILOADED MEDIA HUB NEWS UPDATE

The National Association of Osun State Students (NAOSS), on Thursday, celebrated its 30th anniversary in the state, AMILOADED reports.

The association comprises all indigenous students of Osun State schooling in various institutions within and outside the state.

Speaking at the event, the NAOSS National President, Comrade Yusuf Moshood Agboola, well known as Justice, said it was a day of triumph of a course.

Agboola said, “Today is a special day, a day of history, hope and renewal. For ages, Osun State students have been tested anew, ready to reanimate the zeal for zero tolerance against any act of oppression and intimidation in all forms toward our constituency. Today, we celebrate the triumph, not of a person but of a course, the course of our beloved State –Osun State.

“We have learned that unionism is precious, fragile and at this hour, my good people, of Osun, we’ve together set a clear and unambiguous record. Our will has prevailed. We are all present at the birth of a new millennium, ready to unlock the mysteries of space, to free the earth from all the miseries 9f disease and to harness the industries and technologies of tomorrow. A new pride will stir our souls, lift our sights and heal our divisions.

“What truly matters is not who the president is but whether our conscience, movement and activities is in line with the primary aims and objectives of our founding fathers that sacrificed their time, talent and treasury to the birth of this noble association. December 22nd, 2022 will be remembered as the day NAOSSITEs regain the possession of the subject matter they laboured for. The abandoned, forgotten students of our beloved Association will be forgotten no longer.

“To the reasonable, responsible and bonafide NAOSSITE, understand that we cannot succeed when a shrinking few do very well and a growing many barely make it. We believe that our beloved Association’s prosperity must rest upon the shoulders of a riding intellectual class.

“We know that students in our domain will thrive when every person can find independence and pride in theory academics; when the provision of chapter 2 of the Nigeria Constitution 1999 as amended liberates us from the brink of hardship. We are true to our creed when a little girl born into the bleakest poverty knows that she had the same chance to succeed in her academics as anybody else because she is from the prestigious and beloved Osun State.”

The Chief Whip of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Olatunde Olatunji, who was the guest lecturer of the event, said Osun State stands a great chance in championing world class development if the resources at its disposal are maximized.

“If Osun State will be great, we need to get it right with our youth population. The future of the State lies with the people in this room. All great nations in history and contemporary times were built by their youths.

“Let’s ignite all youths at all levels and we’ll begin to witness advancement. The youth must recognize their critical role in national development but self development is the foundation of societal development.

“Reanimating the zeal of NAOSS at 30 years means you have serious work ahead of you, it means being ready to challenge the status quo that it’s not business as usual.

“The leadership of NAOSS must be with the people who want to be accountable because if NAOSS is great, Osun State will be great, Nigeria will be great and the world will be a better place,” Olatunji said.

On her part, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Osun, Dr Juliana Akindele, who was represented by the Acting Dean of Student Affairs, said discipline, honesty, transparency, and teamwork were principles for anyone to stand and thus, should be implemented accordingly.

Delivering a message from his Principal, Comrade Ayantunji Kehinde, former SSA to the immediate past governor of Osun State on Student and Youth Mobilisation, Gboyega Oyetola, urged the studentsto remain focussed, adding that it is an essential commodity to the fulfilment of any course.

He later launched the fundraising towards the proposed E-library with a donation from Oyetola.

Some personalities were awarded by NAOSS for their service and contribution to the growth of society among who were the Chip Whip of Osun Assembly, Hon. Olatunji; Bursar, Osun State College of Education, Ila Orangun, Dr Rasheed Olanrewaju Oyedeji; and AIG Olawale Olokode.
