The Chairman of Iwo Day Planning Committee, Dr Iyabo Lamuye, has implored all sons and daughters of Iwo in Osun State to make the development of the ancient town their focus always, adding that the 2022 Iwo Day will come up on Saturday, December 17, AMILOADED reports.
Lamuye made this known in a statement signed by the the Secretary of the committee, Mr Kabiru Adisa, on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the 31st Iwo Day anniversary is a platform to celebrate and deliberate the progress of Iwo, calling on everyone to appreciate the great ideas that birthed this event by making it a memorable one.
“Right from its inception in 1990, the annual Iwo Day event is primarily for the development of this town, and this year will not be an exception,” she noted, adding that “we set out to raise N300 million to pursue identified developments in Iwo town and we look forward to the contributions of everyone to make up this number,” Lamuye said.
She called on headship of the various compounds in Iwo to ensure the payment of the dues to them, adding that “we call on every compound heads to ensure quick remittance of the N20,000 billed to their compound as it we strongly remind them that the development of Iwo is a collective responsibility.”
She further outlined that the event which will take place at the popular Oluwo Stadium, adding, “Iwo will showcase the rich tradition of Iwo culture, unlimited entertainment, educational and sporting activities in addition to the raising of fund for the town’s development.”
