Some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, on Thursday, held a special inter-religious prayer for the re-election of Governor Gboyega Oyetola in the July 16 governorship election in the state, AMILOADED reports.
The inter-religious prayer, which was sponsored by the Osun State Commissioner for Regional Integration and Special Duties, Hon. Olalekan Badmus, was held at the Ilerioluwa campaign office in Osogbo, the state capital.
According to the commissioner, the prayer was aimed at seeking God’s intervention for the success of the APC at the gubernatorial election in Osun State and the 2023 general election.
Speaking at the event which had several clerics and party faithful in attendance, Badmus said since he believes in the efficacy of prayer, he decided to organise the prayer so as to beseech God for His ultimate protection, success and victory of the APC in the forthcoming elections.
He said, “Few months ago, our grand leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, took the bull by the horn as he made known to us, his intentions of becoming the next president of this great country.
” His journey to clinging our party’s sole presidential ticket was not without inhibitions.
“Like the man who God has ordained, Asiwaju pulled through all the storm and all that was thrown on his way to emerged victorious.
“Today, the presidential flag-bearer and candidate of our party, All Progressives Congress is Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“It is no gainsaying that Gov. Gboyega has raised the bar of governance in Osun state and has truly transformed the state through financial re-engineering, financial discipline and more importantly budgetary discipline.
” Through several of his masses oriented programmes despite paucity of funds, Gov. Oyetola has raised hope of several citizens and genuinely repositioned Osun amongst committee of states in the country.
“In a similar vein, this speech will not be complete if I fail to re-echo to the general public that our dear leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has paid his dues and one must laud his achievements over the years, especially how he transformed Lagos state from an IGR of 600 million to over 20 billion when he was leaving office.
“I am glad to tell you that, with his continual vision and support for the same state, Lagos now generate over 50 billion naira per month. Besides, he has also replicates severally that he will never be bias on either religion, tribes, race or gender.
“This is evident as he has raised so many leaders without consideration of their religion belief and the tribe they come from.
“Asiwaju is only concerned about the development of the land. It would only be a repetition of an already established fact, that we are ready to mobilise the voting population within our control to campaign and vote massively for the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“We are committed to this project and coincidentally, in just nine days away, our gubernatorial election in the state would hold and so, this gathering is set at the right time and the right period.
“We pray for massive victory for Governor Adegboyega Oyetola at the polls. There is no iota of doubt about the competence of the people’s Governor, who has consolidated excellently on the development he met on ground.
“Once again, it gives me great joy to be in front of you today and as a strong believer of prayer, I have every reason to say that we doing the right thing as a people who wish for the best to happen in our state and our country,” Badmus said.
Speaking, on behalf of students, the National President of Osun State, Comr. Yusuf Moshood Agboola, said Oyetola was the first governor that has engaged the student leaders in his cabinet.
“Governor Oyetola has done well for Osun students community. We believe if Oyetola is re-elected for second term, he will increase the number of student leaders in his cabinet,” Agboola said.
He also declared his support for APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, saying, “Tinubu is the father of the nation, he has extended his fatherly love to all students.”
