The secretary of Inter Party Advisory Council in Osun state, Dr. Tosin Odeyemi, has condemned the recent actions by some stakeholders selling citizen’s voter’s cards at a polling unit in Ilesa.
It could be recalled that three persons were nabbed recently at the INEC office located at Osu in Atakumosa West Local Government of Osun state on the allegation of selling voter’s cards to some individuals.
According to the report by the state command of police, one Orji Desmond Nkenna, a corps member attached to INEC office as an Ad-Hoc staff in charge of Voter’s Card distribution has collected some PVC on the order of some individuals for financial transaction.
It was learnt that police arrested the principal suspect along with the INEC supervisor to the alleged corps member Mrs Makanjuola Bilahu ‘f’ aged 58 years and one Mr. Oluwatobi Ogini ‘m’ aged 32 years to investigate the level of their involvement.
Odeyemi noted that the incident was a bad omen considering the level of crisis being experienced around as the gubernatorial election draws near.
While commending the state INEC for not covering the suspects, Odeyemi, who is the state chairman of New Nigeria Peoples Party, charged the police not to relent in their efforts of getting to the root of the matter.
