Ilesha Accident: How We’ll Stop Road Crashes In Osun ― Commissioner Faseru

AMILOADED MEDIA HUB NEWS UPDATE

Osun State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Tola Faseru, has announced plans by the state government to stop road accidents in the state, AMILOADED reports.

Faseru also revealed that the victim of the accident involving a truck linked to one of his companies in the Ilesa area of the state is his relative.

Faseru made the disclosure at a press briefing at his Ijebu-Jesa residence on Tuesday, saying he is as grieved as everyone.
The commissioner added that the management of the company and the forwarding company which owns the truck have taken care of the liability and are in touch with the family.

He said although he is the founder of the company, he has not been involved in the daily activities of it following his appointment as a commissioner by Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.
Faseru said, “By the virtue of my appointment as a commissioner, I have ceased to be involved in the day-to-day running of the company. I established it over 25 years ago and it’s a company that deals with exportation of agricultural produce.

“The unfortunate incident is highly painful. I later found out that the victim was coincidentally, a family member of mine. The management of my company and the forwarding company has met with the family and a settlement term has been reached.

“The managements of the companies have taken over the liability and are in touch with the family to ensure all the terms of settlement are finalised.

“To me as person, my intervention will not be one-off thing. As I said the victim is a family member, I shall continue to be with the family and support them at all times.”
Speaking on the preventive measures put in place, Faseru said Governor Adeleke was pained with the incident, adding that he has commenced actions to forestall future occurrences.

“The governor, having heard about it, sent a delegation led by the commissioner for transport to the family and the school and the government has put in measures to ensure safety of motorists and citizens along that corridor. The road will surely get the attention of the government,” the commissioner disclosed.
