AMILOADED MEDIA HUB NEWS UPDATE

Omooba Dotun Babayemi Campaign Organization has commended the Osun State Police Command for averting what could have snowballed into a large scale crisis in the state.

Also, the organization through its media office, urged the state governor,Senator Ademola Adeleke,to caution his supporters not to plunge the state into crisis through constant harassment, bullying and attacks on supporters of Omooba Dotun Babayemi.

The Police in the state had arrested and detained the Special Assistant to Governor Ademola Adeleke on Transport Pool, Alhaji Rasaq Oyetunji, the Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) Wasiu Orimadegun and the Youth Leader of the party, Biodun Ojewale, both of Ward 10, Olorunda Local Government area of the state , for physically assaulting Comrade Shakiru Temitope Olalekan, a supporter of Babayemi in Oba-Oke at the weekend.

The attack said to have been carried out by about 20 men at the behest of the Special Assistant, led to the sustenance of various degrees of injuries by the victim, Comrade Olalekan.

However, a release by the Media Office of the Babayemi Campaign Organization on Wednesday, commended the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Patrick Kehinde Longe and his men at the Anti-Cultism Unit for their professionallism in handling the case.

“We want to sincerely appreciate the Osun State Police Command, especially the CP,Mr Patrick Longe and his men at the Anti-Cultism Unit for saving the state from plunging into some sort of mayhem. The apprehension and detention of some political thugs who attacked a staunch supporter of Omooba Dotun Babayemi in Oba-Oke, is testament to the seriousness of the Police in the state towards ensuring an all-round peace” the release maintained

It lamented that such unprovoked attacks were becoming recurrent in the state and the order of the day, adding that bullying, threats and harassment of Babayemi’s supporters were increasingly becoming everyday happenings in the state by some supporters of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

The release further bemoaned that the attack unleashed on Comrade Shakiru Temitope Olalekan which was said to have been coordinated by the Special Assistant to the governor would have escalated if the police had not acted promptly.

“This situation must not be allowed to continue if the much desired peace must be achieved. The most unfortunate aspect of it is that, those being bullied and attacked, are also members of the PDP, though supporting Babayemi and it is not a crime to do so because there’s freedom of association/choice.People follow and support whoever they believe in” the body asserted

While calling on the police and other security outfits not to relent at ensuring peace in the state, the Babayemi organization implored the state governor to caution his supporters against igniting avoidable crisis.

“We are for peace anytime and everywhere we find ourselves and our conducts spell this. We want to urge Governor Ademola Adeleke to call his supporters to order, especially those seeking to impress him through violence. We say so because any orchestrated crisis by any of his supporter will not earn his administration any credit but will rather give it a dark spot” the organization insisted.

Meanwhile, the campaign body has called on its supporter across the state to continue to be law-abiding and never to take laws into their hands under whatever guise.
