Agunbe Descendants Union Calls For Immediate Selection Of New Akinrun Of Ikirun, Seeks End To Kingmakers’ Dispute

The Agunbe Descendants Union has called for an end of the dispute between all kingmakers and work in harmony for proper selection or enthronement of the new Akinrun of Ikirun in Osun State, AMILOADED reports.

The union in a communique released on Thursday said appropriate quarters should be looked into for the selection of the next Akinrun, adding that Ikirun is too big than not to have a monarch.
It stated that due process, custom, and norm of the land should be strictly followed in the selection of the successor of late Oba Abdulrauf Olayiwola Adedeji who joined his ancestors on February 3, 2021.

The Agunbe Descendants Union said, “More than a year now, the union has been watching and monitoring unpleasant scenarios erupted during the cause of Afobajes’ duties with an eagle eye and feels unsatisfactory with crisis that degenerated after selection of the current Oba Elect.

“The power to enthrone next Akinrun has been entrusted on kingmakers, even with court litigation and submission of our people as congress, calling on Ikirun elders for timely decisions on who becomes king which is still on hold till date.

“After several consultation s and consolidation of our members counsel, we want this letter to serve as our grievance and complaint for the irreconcilable dispute that erupted at the cause of the selection, negligent of the throne and abandonment of we (Ikirun) till date. Ikirun is endowed and blessed with more than enough qualified and capable sons who can mount the throne and paddle the affair of the town.

“Dispute between all kingmakers should come to an end and work in harmony for proper selection or enthronement processes.

“Appropriate quarters should be looked into on selection/enthroned as next Akinrun as soon as possible. Ikirun is too big than not to have a monarch.
“Coronation should be done as soon as decision s and conclusion is arrived at with due date.

“There should be no political or religion influence on who becomes king but strictly directions of Afobajes.
“Due process, custom and norm of the land should be strictly followed.

“For the enhancement, engagement and representation of our diverse neighborhoods by coordinating the delivery of programs for the denizens of Ikirun Agunbe and facilitating community partnerships to foster propinquity, development and harmony.”
