Children’s Day: Stop Mental Illness Foundation Holds Award Competition For Osun Students

The Stop Mental Illness Foundation (SMIF) has hold an award-winning competition programme for students from different schools in Osun State, AMILOADED reports.


The founder of the foundation, who lives in the Diaspora, Mrs Oluseyi Elizabeth odudimu, while speaking at the event held at Baptist High School, Agib, Ede, Osun State, in commemoration of the Children’s Day on Saturday, May 27, 2023, said the programme tagged ‘A Better Place For The Children’ was to put smile on the faces of the children.


The founderwho was represented by the project coordinator SMIF, Mrs Adebayo Deborah Oluwafunke said, “The founder was like, I just want to see the children smile. I want them to feel okay,i want to hear them scream for joy. I don’t want to see them in a moody state because most of them pass through things they cannot talk about.”


The project coordinator SMIF said the goal of the foundation as was to put a stop to mental illness stigma and to create a community for proper communication.


She said the Reflex Lounge and Bar supported the programme as well as CRE8VID.
The schools that participated in the competition were Seventh Day Adventist Grammar School, Baptist High School, Obalaoye Grammar School and Timi Agbale Grammar School.


One of the panel of judges, Joshua Oladunjoye expressed his delight at the performance of the students, saying they least expected such performance from government school students.


Oladunjoye thanked SMIF for the programme, saying it was another way of giving back to the society.


Baptist High School won the competition with 209 points while Obaloye Grammar School was the first runner-up.


Adewole Oluwadimimu from Baptist High School and Saheed Abdulameen from Obalaoye Grammar School expressed their excitement towards the programme and commended SMIF.
