AMILOADED MEDIA HUB NEWS UPDATE
The Federation of Egbedore Local Government Students Association (FELGSA) has held a political debate for the 12 House of Assembly candidates contesting in Egbedore State Constituency ahead of the 2023 general elections, AMILOADED reports.
The FELGSA President, Ogunsola Adams Oladapo, in an interview with newsmen on Thursday, said the debate was organised to have a vote in the right candidate who is going to support the youths and make their intentions known.
Ogunsola said,”The best thing to have a better representation is to organize a kind of debate for all the house of Assembly candidates across the local government and as well we have 12 candidates contesting for the house of Assembly in this local government.
“Then we believe by the virtue of that very debate we organise for them, we will be able to know who is ready to support the youths and to make our own intentions known to the public.”
He also urged youths to get their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in order to exercise their franchise as “they are powerless without their PVCs”.
He added that the youths shouldn’t vote because of material things, but for the candidate they believe in and for the future.
Also speaking, the prince of Ara Kingdom, Aremo Oyelade Oloye, said the program was educative and advised other local governments to also do the same.
He said the program would help in choosing the right representatives and also make accountable to the citizen, adding that it would help in the growth of Osun State.
Oyelade said, “The program is very educative and I think if other local government can emulate this wonderful program been organised by our students, the Federation of Egbedore Students.
“I think it will bring a good representative and it will make our representatives be accountable to us and it will make the state to move forward.”
The four candidates who were present at the event included Oyewunmi Naheem, Labour Party (LP); Prince Lawal Kamorudeen Olamilekan, New Nigeria Peopless party (NNPP); Adedeji Azeez Oriyomi, African Action Congress (AAC); and Hon. Faniran Damilare, Action Democratic Party (ADP).
