The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) Professor Mahmood Yakubu has said his Commission was determined to ensure the conduct of 2023 general elections, in spite of prevailing security threats across the country.
Professor Yakubu restated his Commission determination on Thursday in Abuja in his remarks during the public presentation of the 2022-2026 Strategic Plan and the 2023 Election Project Plan held at Sheraton Hotel.
The INEC Chairman urged eligible voters who have registered in the Continuous Voters Registration to make efforts to pick their Permanent Voters Cards but warned that it would not be collected by proxy.
National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno, who was represented by Sanusi Galadima noted that the introduction of Bimodal Voters Accreditation System, (BIVAS) has boosted INEC credibility.
He assured the Commission of the commitment and support of security agencies towards peaceful election.
“We have carefully listened to the demand of Nigerians for seamless processes, particularly with regard to enhanced voter to polling units, quality training of election Personnel, functionality of electronic devices, improved logistics” Chairman added
