World Sight Day: NOA Conducts Free Eye Check-Up In Osun

The Osun State chapter of the Nigerian Optometric Association (NOA) has conducted a free eye check-up for National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) members in commemoration of the 2022 World Sight Day, AMILOADED reports.

The annual event sponsored by the World Health organization (WHO) and International Organization for the Prevention of Blindness (IPB), takes place every second Thursday in October.

The 2022 World Sight Day was held with the theme, ‘Love Your Eyes, Save Lives’.

Members of the NOA conducted a free eye check-up and administration of glasses for drivers at the NURTW Secretariat, Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

The event was however held in partnership with other cadres of eye care practitioners in the state, including Ophthalmologists, Optometrists, Opticians, Ophthalmic nurses and eye health committee of the state to improve the people’s sight.

One of the doctors, Prof. Caroline Adeoti, said, “The eye as an important organ of the human body must not be lost and must be properly loved as propagated by the year’s theme.”

The NOA State Secretary, Dr Oseringe Godswill, said, “90 per cent of our daily activities involve vision and is the major reason for targeting drivers for the year due to their importance to human life and to further curb accidents.”

The beneficiaries turned up massively at the centre and were appreciative of the move, saying it was a much needed at a time like this.
