AMILOADED MEDIA HUB NEWS UPDATE

The policemen at the Ikirun-Osogbo Expressway, who allegedly brutalised a law graduate, Mayokun Oluwadara, while he travelled to Osogbo, Osun State, have been identified.

The intern was travelling from his hometown, Ila-Orangun, to Osogbo, en route to Lagos, when the incident happened.

According to PUNCH Metro report, Oluwadara was singled out of the vehicle by the highway officers and accused of being an Internet fraudster before the policemen demanded a bribe from him.

The graduate claimed that the beating started when he refused to give them money.

He said the officer rained slaps on him while another hit him with a baton as he continued protesting their demand.

The 23-year-old also said one of the officers threatened to kill him and dispose of his body.

PUNCH correspondent obtained pictures of injuries the victim sustained in different parts of his body.

A passenger in the vehicle with him confirmed that the five-man team was fond of demanding bribes from male passengers who plied the road.

It was learnt that the policemen, who were stationed at a checkpoint between Ikirun and Osogbo, had ‘OSA Safer Highways’ inscribed on their patrol vehicle.

After the report, Oluwadara said several people had shown interest in the case.

PUNCH correspondent also learnt that a Commissioner of Police had been informed of the incident.

The victim’s lawyer and a family member, who asked not to be quoted, said steps were being taken to seek redress for Oluwadara.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Yemisi Opalola, did not respond to several calls and a text message sent to her phone line as of the time of filing this report.
