National Council of Muslim Youth Organizations (NACOMYO), Osun State chapter, has commemorated with Muslims in the state on the occasion of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, urging them to participate in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state, AMILOADED reports.
The coordinator NACOMYO in Osun State, Immam Tajudeen Adedokun, said this at a press brifing on Wednesday.
Adedokun said the celebration came with its greatness which all and sundry have one thing or the other to appreciate Allah for, especially, His continuous protection and kindness.
Speaking on the conduct expected of Osun citizens before, during and after the election, Adedokun said the electorates are expected to perform their civic responsibility by voting in the candidate of their choice at the polls with their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) while maintaining orderliness.
He said, “We call on INEC under the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof. Abdul Ganiyu Raji to please give all the candidates level play ground, conduct peaceful, credible, acceptable and conclusive election.
“We equally appeal to all political parties and their members to comport themselves and inform their followers to shun any act of indiscipline or break down of law before, during and after the announcement of results. We pray ‘July 16’ be a unique day for our dear state.”
Speaking on unemployment in Osun State, Adedokun appreciated Governor Gboyega Oyetola for his recent appointment of teachers in the state.
“We apreciate the Governor of Osun State, Alhaji Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola for appointing some teachers recently, yet a lot are going out of teaching service at the primary an secondary levels, adding to the existing vacancies of about 40,000 out of which 1000 was filled.
“The association appealed to the Federal government on the state of insecurity in the country which needs to be addressed.
“On the part of the state government, we appeal to the security agencies to put more effort in protecting the lives of and properties of people doing away with politics on the issue of insecurity. We implore citizens to cooperate with the government and all security agencies so that peaceful coexistence in the will continue.
“The government should reposition things, amend the amendable, put in place necessary infrastructural facilities to ensure that all are purely taken care of in ensuring equity, fairness as well as bringing governance to the level of the governed,” he said.
