Osun 2022: Stop Unscrupulous Politicisation Of Pension Payment, Adeleke Tells Oyetola

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has slammed the state governor, Gboyega Oyetola, over his response to the pension crisis rocking the state, warning against politicisation of pension payment and management, AMILOADED reports.

Speaking after receiving a group of senior elders at his Ede residence on Thursday, Adeleke said payment of salaries, pension and gratuities should be a matter of priority for any “responsible” government, lamenting that it took the persistent outcry of PDP, on behalf of pensioners, before the state government made a political announcement.

“I empathise with our senior citizens over this inhuman neglect. I commiserate with families of hundreds of pensioners who have exited this world due to lack, want and suffering. It is unacceptable for any government to play politics with the lives of senior citizens or any citizen for that matter.

“Imagine that it took months of advocacy and call out by we the opposition leaders before the Governor deem it fit to attend to the pains of pensioners. Even the announcement is clearly a political one designed to safe face and lure voters into another trap of four years. The state government previously lied on recruitment of teachers, on clearance of salary arrear, on university upgrade for Ijeshaland and now on release of fund for pension arrears.

“A Governor leading a government that thrives on lies and propaganda cannot be trusted by the citizens. As a confirmation , even APC members are now daily cursing the governor and his close aides.

“We watch as the Governor supervised the worst rape of democracy through an inconclusive, rigged legislative primaries. The governor has lost the trust and confidence of Osun workers, teachers, public servants, students, artisans and womenfolk. Strangely, even APC members are praying for the defeat of Governor Oyetola come July 16th,” Adeleke was quoted as saying in a statement issued by the Senator Ademola Adeleke Campaign Organisation (SAACO).

He, however, assured workers of their welfare, saying it is the first on his five point agenda.

Adeleke further called on Osun voters to “vote out Oyetola, the voters must punish the APC for presiding over multiple mismanagement of public sector and deliberate inflicting of hardship on the masses of our people.

“Now is the time to send the APC packing from Abere Government House. Go and collect your PVC; issue red card to Oyetola and his team. Fear nothing – A PDP government will restore prosperity, normalcy and progress for all in Osun State,” the governorship candidate said.
