JUST IN: Osun, ICPC Launch Anti-Corruption Clubs In Private, Public Schools

The Osun State Government in collaboration with the Independent Corrupt Practices And Other Related Offences Commission, on Tuesday launched anti-corruption clubs in 68 public and private secondary schools in the state.

The event held at Ataoja School of Science, Osogbo, was aimed at exposing pupils to the evil of corruption, in a bid to inculcate right values in them.

Speaking at the event, Osun state Commissioner for Education, Mr. Folorunso Bamisayemi, highlighted adverse effects of corruption on the general well being of the people.

Bamisayemi, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr Adelani Aderinola, further said, “There is nothing examplenary in getting involved in corrupt practices. It can also deny you students quality education.

 

“The essence of having a club like this at secondary school level is to further sensitize the nation against corrupt acts, but starting from schools.”

In his address, ICPC Chairman, Prof. Bola Owasanoye, represented by Osun State ICPC Commissioner, Mr Babaalaro Shu’aib, identified building institutional capacity and reinvigorating positive values among youths as some of the ways to prevent corruption.

Describing youths as the backbone of national development because of their energy and talent, Owasanoye their attributes could be properly channelled, it would lead to positive national transformation.
