Alleged N1.8bn Found In Possession Of Buratai Fake, Says World Institute For Peace

The World Institute for Peace has described the report of an alleged #1.8billion found in possession of former Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Tukur Buratai, as “fake”, AMILOADED reports.

The chairman of the Institute, Mr Lamina Kamiludeen, said this at a press briefing in Osogbo, the Osun State capital on Saturday.

Kamiludeed, who further released a statement after the briefing said the report that the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) recovered multi-billion naira, dollars and exotic watches from the General’s office in Abuja had been debunked by the ICPC.

He said, “Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) clears the air with a report that is totally different from the misinformation being spread from some quarters of social media platforms against Gen Tukur Buratai, the former Chief of Army Staff.

“Gen Buratai is a man of integrity who performed well during his tenure as the chief of Army Staff and it would not be best for people to falsely his name in the mire.

“The commission stated, they raided a property in Wuse 2 of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja on Thursday 16th June, 2022 between 5pm and 12am on suspicion of money laundering. Facts available for the time being indicates that the property is owned by K Salau Construction Nigeria Limited, Mr Kabiru Sallah and investigation is ongoing according to the Commission.

“The commission reportedly recovered money and other items like G-Wagon, 2022 editions of BMW and Mercedes Benz cars, customized phones, several designer watches including three Rolex watches and some property documents from the house.”

Expressing his displeasure at the reports in some quarters, Kamiludeen said, “We at World Institute for Peace (W.I.P) disapprove of false information and fake news and we try to debunk them as effectively as possible. False information can distort people’s beliefs and can contribute to societal damage.

“I advise people, especially youths in the nation to refrain from spreading concocted reports as such reports can affect the peace of the nation.”
