A group, Bola Ahmed Tinubu Our Choice 2023 (BATOC23), has held a public general meeting in Osogbo, the Osun State capital to enable members of the group have a physical interaction, AMILOADED reports.
The meeting held on Thursday had the Director General, Bola Ahmed Tinubu Our Choice 2023, Dr. Isiaka Owoade, other stakeholders and members of the group in attendance.
In a welcome address delivered at the meeting by the Director General of the group Dr. Isiaka Owoade, he apologised for the absence of the National Chairman and Convener of the group, Ambassador Adejare Bello from the meeting, whom he said is on national duty as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Mexico but was expected to join via zoom.
He said, “This meeting was arranged to afford is the opportunity to meet face to face and further reiterate our belief in the struggle to enthrone Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Nigeria’s next President in 2023.
“As our name suggests, this group came into existence because Bola Ahmed Tinubuis our choice for the 2023 presidential election. We have also collectively resolved to use our resources both physical and financial to advance the course of enthroning our principal as the next Nigerian President.
“BATOC23 decision is in glaring realities of the difference Tinubu has made in people’s lives in expanding economic opportunities in the transformation of his state’s physical infrastructure and in steering Nigeria into a new and progressive course. Talking of resilience and consistency, BATOC23 believes Tinubu is the arrowhead of a stable, robust opposition culture for 15 years while the People’s Democratic Party ruled at the Centre.
“Our choice in Tinubu is also because he stood true to his progressive credentials and precedence. He co-hatched the biggest and most successful political coalition of all times in Africa – the All Progressives Congress. Tinubu is our choice because he has the competence, vision and capacity to build on the foundation of President Muhammadu Buhari.
“Our objective is to constitute this organisation into a powerful support group working to bring pressure to bear on all stakeholders to vain favourable acceptance outcomes to our principal throughout the country. Asiwaju has been resolute in his vision for a great Nigeria.
“President Buhari and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu were the two co-architects whose vision and sacrifice led to the merger that birthed APC. As President Buhari is serving his tenure out, equity and natural justice demand that Asiwaju be the de-facto successor who must also be honoured for his efforts with the highest office in the land,” Owoade said.
Also speaking, another stakeholder of the group, Hon. Owoeye Abiodun, said the strength of BATOC would cover the six geopolitical zones in the country.
“Our principal, Bola Ahmed Tinubu knows that BATOC is one of the formidable fora that can lead him to the Aso-Rock.
“The group is self financed. The people you see here today to the glory of God contributed money. We don’t have a godfather somewhere, we did not even go to Bola Ahmed Tinubu to collect money. We believe that we want a better Nigeria,” Abiodun said.
