The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has named Hon. Kola Adewusi as the running mate for the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the July 16 gubernatorial election in the state, AMILOADED reports.
Hon. Adewusi, who hails from Ife, was announced Monday at the PDP secretariat in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
Dignitaries in attendance include Prof. Wale Oladipupo, Hon. Lere Akogun, Elder Peter Babalola, party leaders, and PDP stakeholders across the 30 local government areas of the state.
Speaking at the event, the PDP Chairman in Osun State, Hon. Sunday Bisi, said the party has only one governorship candidate authenticate by the party and has been registered on the Independent National Electoral Commission’s portal in Abuja.
He further urged the members of the party and people of Osun State to disregards any forms of faction that could mar the coming election.
In his remarks, the appointed deputy governorship candidate, Adewusi, thanked the people of Ife for choosing him to represent them as he also lauded the recognition giving to him by Adeleke’s team and promised to always support and give due respect to the governorship candidate.
“I am not the governor, just a deputy to assist and support Mr. Gov after we emerge, I will not pass my boundary, and due respect will be given to the governor, the party, great people of ife and Osun State at large,” he added.
He urged the party members to remain loyal with “heart and mind” to the party leaders, and distance themselves from any forms of violence, assuring everyone will enjoy dividend of democracy in the party.
