One person has been confirmed dead on Sunday as members of rival cult groups clashed in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, AMILOADED reports.

It was gathered that a group of four young men were riding a motorcycle around the Oluode area of the state capital before another group suddenly emerged and launched attack on them.

The clash, however, led to death of the person who was said to be a member of one of the groups.

According to an eyewitness, Wale Adisa, some young men emerged around CMS junction on Sunday afternoon and attacked four persons after attacking the motorcyclists conveying them through the area.

“As soon as the guys fell off the two motorcycles, their attackers descended on them with various dangerous weapons such as cutlass, club, axe among others.

“One of them was eventually hit with a big stone on the head and lost consciousness on the spot and residents around the place scampered for safety, as they could not attempt to intervene in the clash,” Adisa disclosed.

Confirming the incident, the Osun State Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, disclosed that four persons travelling on a motorcycle were attacked by suspected cultists with cutlasses, broken bottles and other dangerous weapons.

The police spokesperson said one of the guys identified as Lekan, well known as Osondi, was killed during the clash, while three others were injured.
