Heritage Life Support Initiative Visits Schools In Osun, Sensitizes Students On Female Genital Mutilation

The Heritage Life Support Initiative, an organisation which focuses on good health and well-being, quality education, and gender issues, has sensitised no fewer than 11 secondary schools in Osun on the Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), AMILOADED reports.

This is just as the Initiative also inaugurated Anti-FGM Young Champions Club in all the schools visited as 10 students were nominated from each schools as “Champions”.

The students were charged to raise awareness on FGM in their respective schools and communities.

The program was led by the Executive Director of the Initiative, Bukola Ejiade, and had ,Mayowa Masanwoola as the programme officer alsoKehinde Olaniyi as the field officer.

The schools visited by the organisation include Olofa Grammar school,Ofatedo; Okinni Grammar School, Okinni; Muslim College, Ido-Osun; Ido-Osun Grammar School, Ido- Osun; Alawo Grammar School, Awo; Community High School, Iwoye; Iragberi Grammar School, Iragberi; Egbedi High School, Egbedi.

Others are Ojo-Aro Grammar School, Ojo-Aro; Baptist Grammar School, Ara; and Al- Fauzaan Islamic International School, Awo (Primary and Secondary School.

Speaking, the principals and the students of the schools pledged to continue in the enlightenment campaigns in their respective schools and communities.
