Osun CP Reacts To Death Of Man Shot By Police Officer In Osogbo, Says Cop Will Remain In Detention Until ….

The Osun State Commissioner of Police, CP Olawale Olokode has reacted to the death of a 28-year-old man who was reportedly hit by a stray bullet a police officer shot to disperse people at a traffic scene around Oke-Onita area, Osogbo, in Osun State.

Saheed Olabomi, who was a passenger on a commercial motorcycle when he was hit on Tuesday afternoon, died on Thursday night.

Mojeed Oyedele, the deceased’s elder brother, said Mr Olabomi battled for his life for nearly 30 hours.

“Yes it is true, Saheed died late last night,” he said.

However, while reacting to the death of the man in a statement on Friday evening by Opalola Yemisi, spokesperson of the Osun Police Command, the CP said the officer that shot the bullet has been identified, arrested and detained.

The police boss said that the officer will continue to be in detention until the orderly room trial process is completed.

The statement read: “It is unfortunate that Olabomi eventually died. I wish to express the sympathy of the Commissioner of Police and the entire Police officers in the command towards the family of the deceased. I also want to use this medium on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, to commiserate with the family of Olabomi, while i pray that God Almighty Himself will console them and give them the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss!

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Olawale Olokode is assuring the general members of the public, most especially, the immediate family of the deceased that, justice will be served on the matter, as the officer that shot the bullet has been identified, arrested and detained. He has also been arraigned on orderly room trial, since the day day of the incident. He will continue to be in detention until the orderly room trial process is completed.”
