OPINION: Oyetola, A Man Who Believes In Efficacy Of Prayers By Ismail Omipidan

Nigerian Politics and politicians on my mind. I find this quote by Viktor E. Franki instructive here: “When we are no longer able to change a situation- we are challenged to change ourselves.”

But rather than change themselves, there are some politicians, who insist on carrying on as though they are God. O gaa! This is where I love and cherish my Principal, Osun Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola. He believes strongly in the efficacy of prayers. He believes strongly that only God determines what happens tomorrow.

His first message to me in the first month of my resumption as his spokesperson was: ”CPS, do not lie about what we haven’t done. Say only those things we have done. Be sure of your facts. Don’t say things that will embarrass us.” This has remained my guiding principle and light on this job.

May Allah give us the Grace to acknowledge the reality of our situation at every point of our lives. There is no point being fanatical about life. Our Creator is a good author and finisher of our destinies. His will, will always prevail over that of man.

Ileri Oluwa ko ni sa e se (God’s Will, will be done.)
