Nigerian-Canadian Group Backs Candidate For Ikirun Stool

The Nigerian-Canadian Professional Group (NCPG) has backed Segun Gboleru to become the next Akinorun – traditional ruler – of Ikirun in Osun State.

Gboleru, a prince, was nominated by the Gboleru Ruling House as its candidate for the royal stool.

In a statement on Thursday, NCPG Executive Director Michael Oloyade said the group was excited by Gboleru’s nomination, adding that his ascension to the throne would boost development in Ikirun.

He said the group, at a meeting last Tuesday, congratulated Gboleru on his nomination and assured him of support to become the next Akinorun.

NCPG stated that following the development, its members had indicated interest in investing in manufacturing and food processing industries in Ikirun as evidence of their support for him.

It said: “We are pleased to support one of our prominent members, Prince Segun Gboleru, who is the CEO of Mortgage Centre-Canada Financial, Georgia One Financial Mortgage Incorporated U.S.A, and SDA Gboleru Nigeria Ltd, and a generous philanthropist who always supports anything African in the diaspora.

“We also commend his investments drive in North America and Nigeria, which led him to establish a 100-Acre SDA Gboleru Farms in Ikirun to create jobs and economic opportunities for the people of Ikirun.”

NCPG said the multi-million-dollar farm is the prince’s initiative to create synergy between Ikirun and some food processing companies in North America.

Ikirun, the headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government, derives its name from the first ruler of the town called Akinorun.
