Man Lands In Court For Allegedly Stabbing Neighbour With Broken Bottle In Osun

 

 

A middle-aged man, James Francis has been dragged before an Osun state Magistrate Court sitting in Ile-Ife for allegedly stabbing his neighbour with broken bottle.

 

 

It was gathered that the accused person assaulted a neighbour, named Gregory Nwoeze and stabbed his stomach, forehead and hands with broken bottle.

The accused person committed the offence on March 11, at Ido-Afeki area, off Ilesa Road in Ile-Ife.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the offence contravened Section 266 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.

When the one-count charge of assault was read to the accused,  he, however, pleaded not guilty.

The Defense Counsel, Mr Babawale Omodogbe, prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms, assuring that he would not jump bail.

In her ruling, Magistrate Ibitola Oyebadejo granted the accused person to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Oyebadejo ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, and should produce three recent passport photographs.

She further ordered that one of the sureties must be gainfully employed, and should present three years tax clearance certificate.

The case was adjourned till April 5, for hearing.
