We Support The Construction Of Flyover At Orita-Olaiya Junction, Those Oppose Move Are Inimical To Progress, Says Osogbo United Group

Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, has been asked to proceed with his administration’s plan to construct a flyover at Orita-Olaiya junction in Osogbo and discountenance the call by some disgruntled elements that the proposed construction be stopped.

The Osogbo United Group made the call in a press statement issued and made available to AMILOADED by the group public communication department in Osogbo on Sunday.

According to the statement signed by the Group’s Chairman, Steering Committee, General Ademola Aderibigbe (retd.), the association of eminent indigenes of Osogbo maintained that anyone opposed to such a useful project is either an enemy of Osogbo or one seeking to undermine the success of Governor Oyetola.

The body added that such a call “is not only inimical but retrogressive, anti-growth and ill-conceived”.

According to the group, the proposed flyover would among other values help to reduce traffic congestion and decrease the risk of accidents, saying the construction would add to the aesthetics of the physical essence of the city.

The Osogbo United Group further assured Governor Oyetola of their support and the generality of the people concerning the project and appeals to the government to construct more flyovers across the capital city.

The group, therefore, admonished the governor to embark on the construction of more infrastructure including extension of electricity and water to new areas, roads, street lights and others in the city to make Osogbo rank among advanced cities of the world.

It further warned that while all and sundry are welcome to reside and transact their lawful businesses in the town, it would not think twice to confront anyone or association whose target is to put the progress of Osogbo on reverse lever.
