A yet-to-be identified male student of Delta State Polytechnic, Oghara, Ethiope West council area, has been murdered by unknown hoodlums after settling difference with a lecturer of the institution.
The incident happened Saturday evening, reportedly on the campus.
Details of the incident were sketchy as of the time of filing this report but there are speculations that it may be cult-related.
A photo of the scene sighted by our correspondent saw several cuts on the head of deceased who sprawled on a dirt path.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya confirmed the incident on Sunday evening.
“It is true. The report is that the girl (girlfriend of deceased) said she and her boyfriend went to settle scores with one lecturer somewhere and as they were coming out of the place, about four people now dragged the boyfriend into the bush.
“She was the one that ran to the Police to report. When the police got there he was stabbed with an axe and all those things.
“So Police took him to the hospital and doctor confirmed that he was already dead,” the PPRO said.
