The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III is celebrating 50 years on the throne of his ancestors.

Here are few interesting things you don’t know about the first class monarch:

1. The Alaafin of Oyo was born on October 15, 1938.

 

2. He attended Central Youth Practising School for his primary education.

3. The Alaafin also attended St. Gregory ‘s College, Ikoyi for his secondary education.

4. Oba Lamidi Adeyemi was given his Staff of Office on January 14, 1971 in Oyo State by then military governor of Western State, Brigadier Robert Adeyinka Adebayo.

5. He was aged 31.

 

6. He succeed the late Alaafin Gbadegesin Ladigbolu.

7. The current governor of Oyo State, Oluseyi Makinde was four years old when the Alaafin ascended the throne.

8. Alaafin had in PUNCH interview revealed that if he was not a king, he would have been a lawyer.

 

9. The Alaafin spent part of his childhood in the palace of Oba Idowu Ademola II, past Alake of Egbaland.
