Alleged Sexual Harassment: Police Complete Probe Of Ogun Commissioner, Reveal Next Action

The Ogun State Police Command said it had concluded investigation into allegations of sexual harassment against the suspended Commissioner for Environment, Abiodun Abudu-Balogun.

The command, however, said it was awaiting legal advice from the state’s Department of Public Prosecution (DPP) for possible trial.

A 16-year-old secondary school girl, Barakat Mayowa Melojuekun, had accused Abudu-Balogun of sexual harassment at his residence in Ita-Otu, Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of the state.

Abudu-Balogun was suspended from office pending the conclusion of an independent investigation into the allegation.

The state police command disclosed on Monday that it had completed and submitted the report on its investigation on the allegation to the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who disclosed this in Abeokuta, was however silent on the details of the report.

Oyeyemi said legal advice from the DPP would determine whether the commissioner would be charged to court or not.

Meanwhile, Wife of Ogun State Governor, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun, has denied keeping the teenager in her custody.

Her spokesperson, Kemi Oyeleye, said: “It is not true. We have been hearing about it since last week, but it is not true.”
