Society Of Community Health Technologist Holds National Meeting, Says Era Of Setback Must Be Over

 

The Society of Community Health Technologist and Scientists of Nigeria has called for an end to the setback in community health must be over.

The President of the association, Comrade Ephraim A. Ajatona who was represented by his vice president Comr. Adamu Ciroma said this during the 2020 National meeting held at Davest College of Health Technology Ekan Nla along Otun Road in Oke Ero Local Government Kwara State.

“The era for stagnation and setback in Community Health must be over, it is demanding for our collective efforts and commitment to effect the outstanding transformation, advance proficiency and to improve our service in Community Health,” Ajatona said.

Speaking on the progress of the association, the Secretary-General, Comrade Nanjul Lirfa while delivering his speech to the members of the society said there has been recorded progress including registration of the organization with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

“The society is registered with the corporate affairs commission, they have written to the appropriate body for recognition and had been accorded with the necessary support by various sectors in the country,” Lirfa said.
He further explained that “society of community technologists and scientists of Nigeria is a registered body that aims at uniting those that have graduated as Ordinary National Diploma, Higher National Diploma, BSc, master and PhD in community health”.

One of the special guest of honour at the meeting, Dr Oguntunde David from the Ministry of Tertiary Institution Science and Technology commended the executives of the society for their great work especially for the international connection, the society has tremendously made which has not only help the society grow but also make the primary health system in the country better.

He further congratulated the members of the society who were inducted and certificated. In his word he charged them to be a good representative of the society.

Some of the international guests that were virtually present through zoom were the first to present their lectures, Prof Marie from USA who presented his lecture on the function of Physician Assistants in Prevention and management of covid 19.

Prof Stephen Rugumayo from Uganda presented his lecture on COVID-19 pandemic: the global experience while Dr Awoleye David Olusegun presented on community health professional practice.

Before he commenced his Presentation, Olusegun gave the report of the international scientific conference he attended to the house, saying that the global world is in support of the society and that work is on-going to raise the society to the pinnacle.

President of West African Association of Physician Assistants who connected through zoom and said the global world is behind the society.
