PHOTOS: Former Governor, Balarabe Musa Buried In Kaduna

 

The body of Former Governor of old Kaduna State, Alhaji Balarabe Musa has been laid to rest in Kaduna.

He died of a heart attack in the early hours of Wednesday at age 84 in his Kaduna residence.

Musa was buried at the Ungwan Sarki Cemetery some few minutes to 5:00 pm, shortly after Islamic funeral prayers were held for him at the Sultan Bello Mosque at Ungwan Sarki.

Ungwan Sarki is located in Kaduna North Local Government Area of the state.

The event was also attended by two former Governors, Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi and Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, while Governor Nasir El-Rufai who was said to have travelled out of the country, was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Balarabe Abbas Lawal.

Others sighted are; Senator Shehu Sani, Chief Judge of Kaduna State, Justice Mohammed Lawal, Alhaji Lema Jibril, PDP Governorship Candidate in 2019 election, Hon. Isah Mohammed Ashiru, former executive secretary of Petroleum Technology Development Fund, Alhaji Hussaini Jallo, and many serving and former Commissioners and District Heads.

Giving insight as to how the former governor died, one of his sons, Kazeem, said, “I am happy that my father, who I shared his political philosophy died in the presence of his family members today. He left behind a legacy of African records. I am very delighted to have a father like him (Balarabe Musa).”

According to him, the former governor died of a heart-related ailment that spanned for almost a decade.

When asked how he would remember his father, he said, “he will be remembered as a lover of the poor and I will remember him for the training he gave us as his children as well as the mentorship that I received from him. He was not only a father to me but a mentor. I like his political ideology.

“He was straight forward and honest.”
