I Am Innocent Of The Allegation, Osun LG Boss, Ezekiel Obeisun Reacts To Alleged Diversion Of N193m

Olubunmi Obeisun, the Chairman of Oriade Local Government Area in Osun State has said he is innocent of the allegation levied against him on the diverting of N193 million to his personal account.

Obiesun said this in a statement made available to AMILOADED in response to a petition dated November 6, 2020, by a Non-Governmental Organisation, Centre for Transparency in Governance, that alleged that he embezzled N193 Million.

In his response, Obeisun accused some politicians in the local government of fabricating false story to smear his character and reputation.

“Some politicians who are aspiring for political offices must be behind these allegations. They felt I am not supporting their candidatures, the allegations are baseless and inflammatory in nature,” Obeisun said.

The Chairman challenged anyone who is interested in how the Council is being run to approach him for verification and authentication, as he made it known that he doesn’t have that sum of money in his personal account.

The Non- governmental organisation in the petition sent to the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said some of the fraud allegedly committed by the chairman include, non-rendering of the statement of income and expenditure, diversion of public office holders’ allowances, illegal procurement of vehicles and breach of the code of conduct.

“We want EFCC to commence an immediate investigation into the alleged criminal financial mismanagement levelled against Olubunmibi Ezekiel Obeisun for his three years’ tenure of office from 2018 to November 2020 for possible prosecution for financial crimes.

“This is a reputable anti-corruption Civil Society Organization (CSO), that is committed to the abolition of corruption in its entirety in Nigeria. We will be looking forward to the immediate and positive response of your good office in dealing with this alleged corrupt practice and betrayal of trust from Mr Ezekiel Obeisun,” the petition read.
