BREAKING: Offa Poly Management Breaks Silence, Reacts To Alleged Presentation Of Awards To Cult Groups By SUG Excos

The Management of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State has finally reacted following the viral pictures that is trending on social media that showed that the Students Union Government of the institution allegedly presented awards to Alora, Aye and Eye cult groups.

This was revealed by the Director of Public Relations and Protocol of the Polytechnic, Mr. Olayinka Iroye in an interview with AMILOADED on Friday evening.

When asked what has the Management done following the viral report, the spokesman said: “As I am talking to you, I am just stepping out of the panel. The panel that was set up by the Management of the Polytechnic to make enquiry on whether the allegations is true or not. We are just rising from today’s meeting, and we are meeting again tomorrow.

“But for more update, it was more like a set up. I am just giving you that privilege information. It was more like a set up to the students’ union.

“There is no institution, where you will see the students union will be in support of all cult groups. All of them will assemble in one place and pictures taken.

“Even all videos that were taken that day did not suggest that there were any of such incident. The DSA, security that were there gave us information about those that were given awards. Awards were given to best faculty presidents among others.

“We tried to examine the said awards that was said were given by cult groups and we realised that they were not even the same. The designs are not the same. We tried to compare the awards given to others and that of the said cult groups but we realised that the design are not the same.

“Though we are yet to conclude our investigation but before the close of work on Monday, we will have concluded.

“We are still going to meet tomorrow and like to meet on Sunday after church service. But from all indications, we have asked students to give us information that will assist the committee, the ones we have seen actually didn’t point out anything. But from what we are seen so far, it is like some people that actually planned it.

” After we are done, we will look for those responsible for this alleged giving of award to cult groups. That will be done after we have submitted our report.

“The Federal Poly Offa has been a school that against cultism. There was a time we have a student union exco was alleged to be a cult member, we immediately removed him. That should be four or five years ago. We removed from office and suspended him from school.”

AMILOADED recalls that in a statement signed by the SUG President of the institution, Comrade Abiola Azeez Adigun debunked the viral pictures, saying that “the award does not emanate from our office, it is a safe made and probably photoshopped by an enemy of progress and that of the union”

Corroborating, the Director of Media and publicity to the SUG President of the institution, Comrade Jamiu Omoniyi said: “We didn’t present awards to cultists. It is a total fallacy. It is from unscrupulous elements who caused distraction. We don’t have any activities with cultists on campus.”

When asked who is behind the viral pictures, Omoniyi said: ” We can not say. That will be an accusation. All we know is that there are some unscrupulous elements of distraction. We are working to fish them out and revitalise the reputation of our institution. ”

Contrarily, in an interview with a student leader of the institution who doesn’t want his name on print, said: Our SUG actually presented awards to the cultists. It is not news to students of the institution. Each every SUG always present awards to cultists every year. The past administration did it too. ”
