Hunger Drove Looters To My House – Former Osun Dep.Governor

A former deputy governor of Osun State, Otunba Grace Titi Ponle-Tomori has said that hunger was the motive behind the attack on her residence in the state.

Tomori, who was not in Osogbo when the incident occured made this disclosure in a telephone interview with journalists after the incidence.

“It was hunger that drove them. May God rehabilitate Nigeria. We felt pained for them and pray for them,” said Tomori.

Hundreds of looters had besieged the Osogbo GRA residence of the former Osun State Deputy Governor , and stole home appliances, electronics and musical equipment worth millions on naira.

According to her, one of her neighbors called her on telephone immediately the looters bombarded her residence in the early hours of the last saturday.

Otunba Ponle-Tomori said her house keeper ran for dear life when she was attacked while her police orderly was beaten when he tried to stop the looting particularly in their attempt to steal the motorcycle in the premises.

Speaking to the journalist, she said the looters vandalised the chapel where prayers are held and carted away a keyboard , television set fridge , projector and the machines she uses to produce garri .

She added that the mob stole all the foodstuff in the premises including bags and packs of garri produced for sale in her farm and fish feeds that she uses to feed the fish in her pond.

During the lockdown occasioned by the COVID19 Pandemic , Otunba Laoye-Tomori had purchased food stuffs and other palliatives which she distributed to vulnerable people in Osogbo , Olorunda , Orolu and Irepodun Federal constituency of the state.

However, Otunba Ponle-Tomori expressed sadness that anyone could be wicked to attack her house under the guise of protest .

” I am not in any position, I am not in government, I was a Deputy Governor and I did not steal any money, so I wonder, why the attack,” she lamented.
