What I Will Do For NANS Factions, OAU, UNILAG, U.I, ABU Zaria, UNICAL, Others If I Emerge As National President – Comr. TUNICE

A notable presidential aspirant of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) National, Comrade Adekitan Lukman popularly addressed as TUNICE (SANS) has stressed that he will try all possible best in his capacity in making sure Students’ Union is restore back to campuses across the Nation that has been suspended by the Managements of the institutions.

He disclosed this while speaking with our correspondent on Monday.

“There is no way anyone can fight for his fellow students if there is no presence of Students Union Government in our campuses. We will try our possible best and use all machinery in our capacity in making sure we bring back Students Union Government to our campuses across the nation. This is when all anti Students policies either from the Management or government can be resisted.

“Secondly, we have a lot of our Students leaders who have been rusticated for agitating for their fellow Students. We make sure we reinstate them all. This is what we have done as a zonal coordinator. The record is there for us to see,” he said.

While reacting to different factions in NANS, TUNICE (SANS) said: “Some decades back, there were unity among various zones of the Association whereby a Zone join another for protest whenever the needs arise because of the common interests among them.

“However, the reverse is the case these days. We have different factions among the Association in our various zones, which has led to disunity among us. This is really affecting our Students. There is a need to unity. This will be the first thing we will embark on when we assume office as the national president.”

Revealing what he will do to security threats and harassment of students, he said: “This is the most important aspect of our agenda, because it is pertaining to lives and properties of our Students. Frequent meetings will be coming up between us and security agencies across the nation.

“We shall be having meetings with internal securities on our various campuses also. Another aspect is that, we do have reports of burglaries in our Students hostels whenever the school is on break. We shall find lasting solutions to this when we assume office. There is need for our Students lives and properties to be safe.

“The victimization and harassment of Students must also stop. We should be able to go around freely without fear

While speaking further on his agenda, TUNICE (SANS) revealed that: “There is need for our Students to feel our presence in their various campuses. We shall set up presidential committees across our various zones who will be going round to check on our Students. Aside the communities We shall be doing that on our own too. But we are planning an inclusive Government.

“No academic programmes were been organised anymore. We need to encourage our Students. We have many of them who are brilliant but struggling to pay their fees. But through this programmes, we will discover them and they shall be rewarded through scholarships. This programme will also encourage students who are struggling academically to put in more, because they will also want to win something

“We also concern about the health of Nigerian Students. We shall take them through the registration for the National Health Insurance scheme (NHIS). We have had various reports of Students having different health related issues. This health insurance system will help them financially. We will also partner with concern stakeholders in health sector. Our Students must be in good shape at all time.

“With all these, we shall be a responsible and responsive leader when will eventually emerge by the grace of God.”
