Two Fake Soldiers Land In Court For Attempted Robbery In Osun

The Police in Osun on Tuesday dragged two men, Gabriel Abolaji, 35, and Samuel Matthew, 20, before an Osun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osogbo for attempted robbery and unlawfully wearing the uniform of the Nigeria Army.

The defendants were allegedly dressed in the full uniform of the Nigeria Army when they were arrested by the police at the Old Garage area of Osogbo.

The police prosecutor, Mr Elisha Olusegun, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on August 16, 2020.

The Police Prosecutor said the defendants unlawfully had in their possession and wore the complete uniform of the Nigerian Army.

Olusegun disclosed that the defendants made attempt to rob before they were nabbed.

The offences were said to be contrary to and punishable under sections 516, 109, 428 (d) and 599 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol. ll, Laws of Osun State, 2002.

When the count charges were read to the defendants, they pleaded not guilty.

Their counsel, Mr Bola Abimbola, applied for their bail.

While ruling on the bail application, the presiding magistrate, Mr Abayomi Ajala, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety each.

He, however, adjourned the matter till September 29, 2020, for hearing.
