Osun Intercepts Another 35 Northern Youths

Personnel of Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have intercepted 35 youths travelling out of the state.

State Commandant of the Corps, Adeyinka Oguntuase, told newsmen that two vehicles conveying the youths were intercepted a few minutes after they left Ilesha on Monday evening despite the ban on inter-state movement.

The NSCDC boss said the youths, when asked where they were heading to, said they were travelling to Sokoto State.

Oguntuase said, “When they were interrogated, they told us they were heading to Sokoto State. Our men on enforcement duty intercepted their vehicles around 9:30 p.m. on Monday.

“The vehicles took off from Ilesha. They had planned to move through Ede and link Ogbomoso under the cover of the night. But we intercepted the vehicles and detained them till this morning.”

He said the youths would be returned to the leaders of the Hausa community in Ilesha, stressing that the ban on interstate travel by the government to prevent the spread of coronavirus was still in place.
