[BREAKING] Coronavirus: Oyetola Begins FG’s Cash Transfer Scheme In Osun

Says 15,000 Indigent Citizens To Benefit

No fewer than 15,000 indigent citizens would benefit from the conditional cash transfer under the household-uplifting programme initiated by the Federal Government to fight poverty in Osun State.

The beneficiaries, who were drawn from the local councils of the state, would receive N20,000 which would cover payment for the months of January, February, March and April and will be paid to each of the beneficiaries through Direct Cash Transfer, as it has been done in a few other States.

The state governor, Gboyega Oyetola who spoke while flagging off the Federal Government’s Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) programme executed in partnership with Osun State government on Thursday, said the programme was meant to alleviate poverty among poor Nigerians.

Oyetola said the FG’s initiative would complement efforts taken by the State government to cushion the effects of the state-wide lockdown imposed to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the State, noting that the government had yesterday distributed over 6,000 bags of rice to the needy across the State
