Tiwa n Tiwa L’Osun Asks Elites To Support Osun Govt With Equipment In Combating COVID-19

A sociocultural group, Tiwa n Tiwa L’Osun Development Association, has appealed to elites in Osun State and abroad to assist the state government with necessary medical equipment to fight the deadly Corona Virus in Osun state.

This came as the group commended the state government on its efforts at curtailing the coronavirus pandemic.

In a statement signed by its Grand Patron, Mr Kunle Adegoke (K.Rad), the group asked residents to adhere to precautionary measures and stay safe.

The full statement made available to AMILOADED reads in full: “Yesterday the 25th of March, 2020, we woke up to read that a single case of corona virus has been recorded in Osun. This was also confirmed in a release issued by the governor of the state, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola.

“We commend the state government’s efforts in keeping the citizens updated on its actions towards warding the menace off the state. We also commend the governor for leading by example by promptly taking the test with the state’s first lady in tow, which results have thankfully come back negative.

“We seize this opportunity to appeal to the good people of Osun to obey the government’s directives on hygiene and social distancing, in line with the World Health Organisation (WHO)’s and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC)’s stipulations on how best to contain the spread of the virus.

“Our appeal also goes to all members of Osun elite at home and abroad to support the government with medical equipment and all other necessaries needed to check this global challenge in our state. There is no better time to be our brothers’ keepers. Our appeal is also, more importantly, extended to health professionals to kindly be ready to make more sacrifices in this unusual time.

“We enjoin the state government to expand test centers across the nine federal constituencies in the state, if it is immediately impracticable to do so in all local governments in the state.

“As we cannot rule God out of our affairs in the state, while the government and health experts are taking charge on the physical fronts, we urge our religious leaders not to cease in their spiritual intercessions on this incident that has so far defied human controls, but without convening any prayer gathering anywhere.

“As we are aware that efforts are currently ongoing in the world towards getting a permanent cure for this pandemic, we urge all those who have tested positive, one so far in Osun and those in other places, to keep hope alive. Finally, we urge the general populace to keep staying safe.”
