Education Review: Osun Abolishes Single Uniform, Mixed Schools, 4-5-3-4 Policies

Osun state Government has announced the reversal of the extant 4-5-3-4 education system, single uniform and mixed schools policies that were implemented by the immediate past administration in the state.

But the state government retained Opon Imo, otherwise known as Tablet of Knowledge with a promise to correct some anomalies and abuse of the gadgets by students.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, the trio of the Honorable Commissioners for Information and Civic Orientation, and Education, Mrs. Funke Egbemode and Mr. Olayinka Oladoyin Folorunsho said the decisions were reached based on the recommendations of the education review committee chaired by Prof. Olu Aina.

Egbemode said that the Council unanimously agreed on the ten issues raised in the report and accepted the recommendations.

Speaking on behalf of the Government after the State Executive Council meeting, held on Monday at the Governor’s Office, Egbemode said the council exhaustively deliberated on the report of the Education Panel.

Moderating the briefing, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, Mr Ismail Omipidan, noted that the speculations about the policy being a way of rubbishing the legacies of the former administration was not correct.

Omipidan said that the new policies are the government’s response to the yearnings of the people which the governor holds sacred.
