Driver Involved In Osun Road Crash Says Cows Blocked The Road

One male adult was confirmed dead while 21 people sustained varying degrees of injury in a road accident that occurred along the Ilesha/Ile-Ife Expressway.

69 passengers were said to be on board a luxury bus traveling from Kaduna to Lagos when the bus was involved in the misshap

The vehicle was said to have lost control and fell by its side.

Explaining how the accident occurred in a chat, the Federal Road Safety Corps, Head of Operations, Ife Unit, Odogiyan Aderibigbe, explained that the accident occurred on Sunday.

He added that the driver of the bus told him during the rescue operations that some cows were blocking a part of the road and in an attempt to avoid running over a jeep in front of him, he had to manoeuver the bus which lost control in the process.

Odogiyan said, “The luxurious bus with the registration number SMK 667 XR coming from Kaduna and heading towards Lagos was involved in an accident. 69 passengers were on board.

“The driver of the vehicle said some cows were blocking part of the road and in order not to hit a jeep ahead of him, he manoeuvred the vehicle but eventually lost control of the bus.

“The vehicle fell and laid by its side. I didn’t see any cow when I got there. But that was what he told me. 69 people were on board. But 21 people were injured. Three others were trapped under the vehicle.

“We used crane to lift the vehicle. Out of the three that were trapped, two people were rescued alive. Doctors confirmed the last person dead in the hospital.
