The Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Timothy Owoeye, has emphasised the need for a robust partnership between media practitioners and the government at all level in order for democracy to grow and be sustained.
Owoeye said this while meeting with members of Osun Online Media Practitioners Association at his office in Osogbo.
Owoeye said he believes in the power of the media so much because it’s via their operations that it becomes possible and much easier to disseminate information to the grassroots and reiterates his readiness and the assembly under his leadership to build a progressive relationship with the media.
On the recently constituted cabinet of the state government he described those who have been selected by the governor into his cabinet as square pegs in square hole while also expressing confidence in their ability to assist the governor in taking the state to greater heights.
He promised on behalf of the assembly to intensify oversight functions in order to complement the executive in its drive to develop the state
