The newly elected lawmaker for Ede South State Constituency Hon. Olaniran Akanfe Atidade has narrated how he escaped an assassination attempt on his life on the eve of the last Saturday House of Assembly elections in Osun state.
Atilade of the peoples Democratic party (PDP) expressed gratitude to God Almighty for saving his life from untimely death on the eve of the election saying that despite attempt on his life, he recorded a landslide victory against the ruling All Progressives Congress in the constituency.
Atilade defeated his APC counterpart and the incumbent lawmaker Arc. Nureni Adebisi of the constituency.
In his first official statement personally signed and made available to newsmen in Ede, the lawmaker-elect thanked the good people of Ede South State Constituency for their sincere trust, love and belief in him to be elected as the representative of the constituency in the 7th session of Osun State House of Assembly.
The statement reads: “I want to sincerely appreciate God for the grace of life despite the assassination attempts and my victory in the last Saturday House of Assembly election. I thank the good people of Ede South State Constituency for entrusting me with their mandate, I specifically thank the Adeleke Dynasty of Ede for their rare supports in all ramifications, they are unarguably the helper of my destiny”
“My profound gratitude also goes to the entire PDP Family in Ede South, Ede Traditional Council, Religious and Community Leaders, Security Personnel, Artisans, Civil Society Organisations, Market Women, Transporters, Civil Servants, Students Union Bodies, Coalition of Political Parties, and the entire dwellers of Ede Land for their genuine love and believe in my aspiration. We have traversed across the length and breath of the constituency to canvas for votes and inform the people what are capable of doing to bring a legacy of sustainable development to the constituency. I want to reassure that the plan remain unchanged.”
“My utmost priority to create people-oriented programs and policies that would bring about prosperity and self-reliance for my constituents still remain sacrosanct and my plan on improving the people’s welfare and social justice through effective legislation shall be implemented.”
He then concluded by seeking for the prayers and support of his constituents to deliver his manifestoes while he assured that his doors would always be open for good advice which can better the lives of the citizens.
