An Osun State High Court on Wednesday sentenced a 38-year-old MTN Sales representative, Toyin Raheem, to 15 years imprisonment in Ilesa prison custody for of N4.5 million theft and arson.
The convict is facing a five count- charge bothering on arson and theft preferred against her.
The State Prosecution Counsel, Mr Abiodun Badiora, had told the court that the convict committed the offense in June 1 ,2017 at about 8:00 am, at an MTN Outlet owned by Wolid Investment Limited(MTN Partner) , Osogbo.
Badiora said the convict stole the sum of N4. 5 million kept at her disposal and also attempted to dubiously set the business
outlet ablazed in order to cover up the heinous act.
He said the convict intentions was to deceived the owner that the money got burnt in the building before the fire was quenched .
The prosecutor said the offense committed contravened sections 443(A), 390(9),1(1)(A) punishable under section 1(3) of the Advance Free Fraud of Related Offenses Act 2006 and the criminal code cap 34 vol. 11,laws of Osun, 2003.
The Defense Counsel, Mr Abdulfatai Abdulsalam , prayed the court to temper justice with mercy in sentencing his client having being found guilty.
Justice Yinka Aderibigbe ruled that the accused by convicted in ilesa prison, having being found guilty of the criminal act against her without any option of fine.
