Aregbesola Administration Has Laid Solid Foundation In Alleviating Poverty In Osun – Commissioner For Commerce

The Osun State  Commissioner  For Commerce, industry and Cooperatives, Mr Ismaila Adekunle Jeyeoba- Alagbada has said the state government of Osun under the regime of Aregbesola has laid a solid foundation in reducing poverty, and creating of wealth through different Empowerment programmes which has improved the well being of people in the state.

The Commissioner who lauded Aregbesola for his numerous development and empowerment programmes in education, Agriculture,  health, job creation, peaceful communal co-existence,  poverty banishment among others said it   had   impacted positively and powerfully on the socio Economic of the state thereby by putting smiles on the  faces of Osun.

While listing the achievements of  the outgoing Governor,  Mr Jeyeoba – Alagbada explained that  the Osun Micro-credit Agency was established to empower small business in 2014  and has  since served as an engine room  which keeps the business of traders,  small-holder farmer, artisans and others business running smoothly and effectively.

The Commissioner while addressing the Press on Monday at the Ministry of Commerce in Osogbo, Capital of Osun State said the project and programs of the governor in his eight years in office has in no doubt developed the economy of the state, improve the the well being thereby rating Osun as the lowest poverty rate in Nigerian.

According to him,  the agency is empowered to source fund globally for on leading to micro and small business.. In addition to the initial sum of 100 million disbursable fund  provided by the state government,  a sum of 2billion was secured under the central bank of Nigeria micro small and medium Enterprises development fund. The loans under the funds through the micro credit Agency were granted interest free

In the first year of its operations.

‘He said the state Government bear the burden of paying the interest as a way of Assisting the beneficiaries to  grow their businesses.

”Through effective and efficient credit administration and management, the initial fund release to the agency by the state government and that from the CBN have been serially resolved and has grown to 4,536,035,000.00 as at September,  2018, a total number of 27,352 MSMES which had made up of seven sectors had benefited from the facilities of the agency.

Starting further, he said a  total number of 46468 has  benefited from state of Osun grooming center partner on micro loan scheme and others as at 2018.

” 332 OYES cadets were empowered to you tune of 33,200,000 to off take cocoyam from farmers and supply of food vendors under the state O meal program.

Other programmes of the Aregbesola’s eight years administration according to the Mr Adekunle Jeyeoba-Alagbada includes  Textile dealers Empowerment Scheme, Financial Empowerment programmes through Osun Micro credit Agency,  Transporters Empowerment Scheme ,  cooperative sector restructure and growth among others.

The Commissioner maintained that the landmarks achievements of Aregbesola administration in his eight years in office and has yeided fruitful results in the state.

”The effort of the state government among others have started yielding fruitful results. The supports to MSMEs has led to an increase in the number these classes of Enterprises from the 2010 figure of 481,451 to 1,358,446 ad September, 2018.

” The Gross Domestic Product (GDP)  of the state had increased from 191.1 billion to 398 billion over the same period.

He submitted that that the out going governor has laid a solid foundation and had gone ahead to put firm super structure on the foundation to ensure an enduring socio Economic development of the state.
