A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party in Osun state, Hon Azeem Adebowale has resigned from the party over alleged imposition of candidates by some bigwigs of the party.
In his resignation letter, which was sighted by our correspondent, Adebowale wrote the state chairman, Soji Adagunodo through the ward chairman of Oloba/Atapara Ward 1, Ede North Local Governmen area of the state.
He expressed his displeasure of how the party allegedly allowed some leaders who had earlier left the party and returned to call the shots on who to represent Ede North on the State House of Assembly.
Adebowale, who did not make any hint of his new party said he could not remain in the party and watch imposition reign.
The letter reads, “In the light of recent happenings in the PDP, particularly the imposition of candidates by certain powerful political brokers in Edeland, I have decided to resign my membership of the PDP with immediate effect.
“The PDP has been my political family in my years of service to humanity in general and Edeland in particular. I have been consistent and unwavering in my resolve to ensure the party retakes it’s rightful place in Osun State and Nigeria.
“In pursuit of representing the people of Ede North at the State House of Assembly, powerful forces that left people like us in the party to seek power elsewhere and came back again were allowed to decide the swings of the political pendulum thereby displacing fair play in the contest for the party’s ticket.
“While I appreciate the party for the time I have been a member, I wish the party all the best as I move on to reflect and seek Allah’s guidance on my political direction.”
