Youth Arise Declares Support For Omisore, Lauds Him For Considering A Youth As Running Mate

Youths under the auspices of Youth Arise have endorsed the Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, Senator Iyiola Omisore and his running mate, Alhaji Yemi Lawal, ahead of the September 22nd Governorship election in Osun state.

The youths expressed delight over how SDP considered a young governorship candidate, Lawal as the deputy Governorship candidate.

36 year-old Lawal, a technocrat was picked as Omisore’s running mate.

The group’s support for SDP was contained in a statement signed by Mustapha Aleem and made available to journalists on Thursday.

Youth Arise said the action is in futherance to the Not-too-young-to-rule advocacy.

The group however decried how the Aregbesola-led All Progressives Congress government allegedly led talented youths out of the state to a place where the of the people of the state they belonged to could not feel their impact.

The youths also accused the APC of furnishing Lagos based cronies with lucrative projects at the expense of Osun youths who are made to work under OYES initiative for a beggarly pay.

They added that they were hell sick of the ravaging situation many had been subjected to under APC.

The youths said, “It is noteworthy here that in Nigeria today, especially Osun state, many governorship aspirants would rather go for an old folk, who is quite unaware of the emerging trends in governance in the society around him and lacks the agility to bear the rigours of running the state if and when they(governors)  are not available.

“We say with pride that, the Social Democratic party has shown others how to compose a good government by mixing experience with exuberance in the mould of Iyiola Omisore and Yemi Lawal. It is not out of place to say that a 36-year old candidate is still a youth and without doubt, our clamour for not-too-young-to-rule has just been infused with life. All we had in the past were mere theoretical propositions as to why the youths have to involved.

They however charged other youths in the state to join the train of the party that has an unassailable consideration for the young leaders and not those who see youths as future leaders, saying it would be unwise for young minds to continue living in the shadows of those who had nothing to offer the society.

Also, an aspiring lawmaker from Olorunda Local Government, Jimoh Rasheed, has said that he had pitched his tent with the SDP over what he described as divine instruction.

He stated this in his recent post on social  media, which was Aldo made available to the camp of SPD.

According to Rasheed, as an advocate of good governance and leadership, Otunba Iyiola Omisore and Alhaji Yemi Lawal ticket is a perfect match, while noting that the state was in critical need of quality set of people as the ones presented by SDP.
