APC, SDP, PDM, ACCORD Members Defect To Osun PDP As Party Begins Statewide Campaign

Thousands of members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Social Democratic Party  Accord Party, and Peoples Democratic Movement defected to the People’s Democratic Party in Osun state on Tuesday during the flagging off of campaign of PDP ahead of the September 22nd governorship election in the state.

Addressing party faithful who thronged the party Secretariat in Osogbo, Osun PDP chairman, Mr. Soji Adagunodo said Osun has never been in such terrible mess as it is today in all ramifications.

According to Adagunodo,  “The cause of the mess can be attributed to 8 years of bad governance, lawlessness, wanton corruption  policy sommersault and total decay of all values and norms we were known for.

“It is for these reasons that the PDP has resolved to provide a better, credible, sustainable and people friendly alternative set of programmes and policies to restore our dear state to path of economic prosperity, social emancipation and general well-being of all and sundry.”

Speaking, the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke unveiled his 6 point agenda which included economic rejuvenation, agricultural revolution, restructured education system, improved worker’s welfare and conditions of service, improved health care delivery with motivated and equipped health workers  and improved toad and water infrastructure.

He said,  “Our State is struggling with huge financial debts; our civil servants are daily dehumanized and reduced to almost salve status working tirelessly without pay;  our aged pensioners are ignored; our education standard has fallen so low we are ranked 29th in student performance in WAEC exams;  our roads have become death traps;  our market women are daily harassed by tax and levy collectors despite low sales; our health centers have become death centres; our people are suffering.

“Our mission is to transform Osun into a state that works for all for us;  we deserve a state where our people can afford a decent living; where government workers work with pride and dignify and are paid regularly and promptly; where the opportunities to grow and thrive will be accessible to every son and daughter of Osun.  Where the mother and child receive good quality healthcare and our aged receive the adequate ready they deserve.

“A state where our students  as one of the brightest and best in Nigeria educated by highly competent and motivated teaching staff; where out farmers are truly kings benefiting from fruits of their labour, producing good quality farm produce using government provided high yield seeds, trees, land, farm implements and other inputs including fertilizers.

“Where every corner is connected by a web of good road infrastructure;  a state that is economically bouyant with productive employed youths; a state that will priotise spending on people impact projects that will improve the welfare ofbher citizens instead of building wasteful monuments; a state with zero tolerance for corruption,” he said.
