Ekiti Will Remain Peaceful During And After Election, CP Assures

The Ekiti State Police Commissioner, Bello Ahmed has asked eligible voters to troop out to their voting centres to exercise their franchise without fear promising that the command was ready to ensure a peaceful governorship poll in the state.

He said adequate security with protection of life and property of residents would be provided for, during and after July 14 Governorship election.

Bello gave this assurance on Wednesday while receiving members of the Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria ( OMPAN), Ekiti state Chapter who were on a courtesy visit to his office.

The commissioner said the command was  ready to ensure that law and order for the governorship election slated for July 14.

He said the state had remain peaceful and that there was no security challenge or threat to life by any of the candidates or political party members.

The CP therefore urged Ekiti residents to abide by the rules before, during and after the election.

Meanwhile, the Police boss has commended the online journalists and asked to keep being factual and honest in their reports.

“Try as much as you can to find fact, crosscheck your fact before reports. We are willing to partner with you to advance the cross path of humanity in Ekiti,” the commissioner informed the journalists.

Speaking, the Chairman OMPAN, Ekiti Chapter, Mr Charles Abere said the association is under the umbrella body of the Nigeria Union of Journalists.

According to Abere, ‘’members of our association are also part of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) as most of them are Correspondents of National Newspapers.

He noted that online media as at today is the quickest means of information dissemination, assuring that online journalists would continue to be ethical.
